History of Erdheim-Chester Disease
Erdheim-Chester Disease was first described in the medical literature in 1930 when Dr. Jakob Erhdheim, an Australian pathologist, and Dr. William Chester, a US pathologist studying under Dr. Erdheim, published a paper on the disorder. The paper was written in German and can be found here.
In 1972 Dr. Ronald Jaffe, a US-based pathologist, gave a name to the disease, calling it Erdheim-Chester Disease.
