Ziggy represents awareness, hope, and community for those living with Erdheim-Chester Disease (ECD). Why a zebra? There is an old medical saying, \u201cWhen you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.\u201d This adage was meant to encourage physicians to first think about common conditions to explain a patient\u2019s symptoms. Today, the rare disease community uses zebras to call attention to the fact that rare diseases do exist and should not be overlooked. Our Ziggy has joined the ECDGA team as a voice to help spread awareness, encourage support, and share the mission of ECDGA in a fun and relatable way.<\/p>\n<p>During ECD Awareness Week, September 8-14 (???), Ziggy will star in a new video series. These videos are designed to make it easier to spread awareness of ECD and to highlight the strength of our global family.<\/p>\n<p>We hope you will keep an eye on our social media channels and website for Ziggy\u2019s videos.
