But the answer came after his death.<\/p>\n<p>For years, Gary\u2019s health declined without a diagnosis. Only an autopsy revealed Erdheim-Chester Disease.<\/p>\n<p>Kathy could not change what happened to Gary. She helped build something that would support the families who followed.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, Kathy and other caregivers connected online in a group initially representing just six patients.
